SHOW GARDENS
The Marshalls Garden
Designer : Johanna Elvidge Company : Marshalls
The Marshalls Garden is a beautifully constructed walk-through garden with sustainability at its heart . The garden uses low carbon products such as concrete facing blocks and heavy texturing to create habitat opportunities . From frogs to bee holes and invertebrate shelters , this garden certainly encourages a buzz of activity .
Collecting rainwater is possible in every garden . The Marshalls Garden uses a rain box planter to collect water from the roof via a drainpipe . Any overflow caused by the often-wet British weather overflows onto permeable paving .
Marshalls fuse both hard and soft landscaping elements beautifully in their Show Garden . Using naturalistic planting styles to complement their sustainability messaging , the dense planting also prevents weed growth and the need for herbicide usage . Meanwhile , the garden is designed using Tegula paving , another low carbon material .
