Reflection
Designer : Laura McArthur
The center of the border is dominated with two native informal mixed hedges symbolising a feeling of being overwhelmed . The planting towards the narrow closure of the hedges focuses on texture and form , with colour slowly being introduced throughout and a vibrant colourful pallet used at the widest part of the border . This border highlights my feelings that no matter how difficult the journey through life can be , there is always light at the end of the tunnel . It is always important to make time for reflection , this is represented by water which evokes a sense of calm and tranquility .
Keep Off The Grass !
Designer : James fenneberg
Taking the brief of ‘ my garden escape ’ James has created a design that transports you away through the use of plant choice and materials . Agaves with their needle sharp thorns and spines are a prominent feature and symbolise the sense of protection he wanted to create in his border . Awareness about a changing climate has inspired a drought tolerant design which features repurposed volcanic sand and rocks to create an ecological habitat for insects . The border is also layered with influences ranging from the ancient Maya , Dutch vanitas paintings , the Lord of the rings , grief , and the motif of a spiral .

Strengthen your Body , Heal your Mind & Feed your Soul
Designer : Adam Marshall Socials : @ greenfingeredcityboy
This border has a clear pathway to a cloud tree , trained and nurtured into its strong , tranquil form . This symbolises the gardener at the end of the process of creating a garden , replenished and empowered .
The pull-up bar arch frames the cloud tree , stepping stones slow the user down to escape the fast pace of life , to work out amongst the beauty of nature . Bright , scented flowers and exercise release endorphins , improving well-being .
Gardening is not about creating a finished garden , it is the greater well-being you are rewarded with through working with nature .
