Tom ’ s great white electric Sangria

I invented this drink a few Summer ’ s ago . A tried and tested crowd-pleasing serve for sunny days with white wine at it ’ s core . Forget classic red sangria ; this is 10x as refreshing .

SERVING SIZE 700ml – to be shared ! 1L glass jug to mix in ( the quickest and easiest way to mix this is placing the jug on an electric scale , but you can use a jigger / measuring spoon if you prefer ) 375ml Fête des Flaveurs Picpoul ( half a bottle ) 190ml Double Dutch Pomegranate & Basil 50ml elderflower cordial 50ml 2:1 simple syrup ( see recipe below ) 35ml Tidal Golden Rum Pinch of salt ½ lime ( in quarters ) 1 whole Peach ( quartered ) 2 strawberries ( halved ) 8x fresh mint leaves

1 Grab a 1 litre glass jug or carafe 2 Add ice ( fill the jug with ice to around 1 / 3 ) 3 Pour in the Fête des Flaveurs Picpoul 4 Add the peach , strawberries , lime and mint 5 Add the elderflower cordial and simple syrup 6 Add a pinch of salt . This is very important , adding hugely to the drink ’ s refreshing character on hot days 7 Stir 8 Add Tidal Golden Rum . This adds a subtle richness and layers of Caribbean-inspired character , as well as a bit of extra kick ! 9 Finish with the Double Dutch Pomegranate and Basil 10 Final stir , then serve
HOW TO MAKE A SIMPLE SYRUP Two parts caster sugar One part water Method
1 Add sugar and water to a pan and gently heat 2 Stir 3 As the mixture reaches a gentle simmer , it should become clear 4 Remove from heat , let cool and bottle 5 Keep chilled . Will keep in fridge for a number of weeks
EXTRA TIPS ; If rum isn ’ t your thing , try vodka for a cleaner , less flavourful cocktail For a further twist , Fête des Flaveurs Sauvignon Blanc and Double Dutch Cucumber & Watermelon make for a good alternative combo !
