This feels like a story that’s played
out before. A North Carolina Tar Heels
team high on talent and experience
finds itself on top to begin the season.
Under Roy Williams, North Carolina
has been Associated Press preseason
no. 1 three times, but has only been
able to finish there during those same
seasons once. Williams has brought two
National Championships to Chapel Hill
during his 12-year reign, but when you’re
pulling in the talent North Carolina does,
expectations are lofty every season, so you
don’t dwell on the past.

North Carolina enters the season as
