Weight loading onto your right side Good width and wrist hinge Finish all your weight on your left side

BW : What should I feel in my downswing to be able to hit it farther ?
RC : The transition starts with the lower body and you drive your weight to your left side as you ’ re also rotating your hips to face the target . Many people do the opposite , and start the transition with the upper body , and their weight stays on their back foot . This is the classic over-thetop move . Starting the downswing properly with the lower body also helps to retain the angle you ’ ve created with your wrist hinge in your backswing — aka lag .
Correct grip more in your fingers

BW : What ’ s a good drill to help hit it farther ? RC : A lot of people struggle with casting the club and this leads to fat or thin shots and also a big loss of distance . … There are a lot of similarities in the athletic motions or body sequencing of other sports . A good drill is to mimic a shortstop ’ s throw to first base with a sidearm drill . You should step into your left side with your hips rotating open , and your right elbow will lead the hand and get out in front of your right hip . You ’ ll notice you won ’ t throw it very far if you ’ re releasing too early .
BW : Are there any workouts golfers can do at home to help ?
RC : Speed drills are good because you can train your fast twitch muscles . You can swing an alignment stick or take a shaft out of one of your woods . You can do this for 5 minutes or so and just see how fast you can swing something that is super light . This is a good way to train and pick up some extra clubhead speed .

Right hand release
BW : What ’ s the biggest challenge when it comes to trying to improve your distance ?
RC : There are physical limitations and injuries that prevent us from being able to create certain positions . Not everyone is going to be able create a 90-degree shoulder turn or fire their hips super fast in the downswing . This doesn ’ t mean you can ’ t create speed though . A lot of speed can be created by hinging and releasing the club properly — even if you aren ’ t able to create a huge shoulder turn on the backswing .
