Getting Creative at Camp

AS ONE CAMP ENDS , ANOTHER BEGINS , OFFERING WAYS FOR CHILDREN TO STAY ENGAGED AND ENTERTAINED THIS HOLIDAY SEASON .
BY ASHLEY RYAN

Newport Beach Country Club is known for its thrilling camps , which give children a way to escape from everyday life for a few hours , socialize with other kids , and explore their creativity , athletic ability and competitive spirit . Often held around the holidays or during breaks in local school schedules , these camps also aim to help parents out when they need it most .

Recently , NBCC successfully completed its Fall Camp , which took place on the days before and after Thanksgiving . Designed for children between the ages of 5 and 10 , as well as a half-day program for younger children , the camp offered a Play theme .
Both days offered plenty of fun and games , including an obstacle course , a round of capture the flag , a fall scavenger hunt and an art project featuring an autumn tree with colorful leaves . “ They used broccoli as a stamp to make the foliage on the tree ,” Melanie Stacklie explains .
While there was plenty of fall fun at NBCC , from the on-site Halloween Spooktacular — complete with a pumpkin patch — to the aforementioned Fall Camp , it ’ s time to turn to some winter magic as we enter December .
This month , another iteration of these beloved camps will take place : the NBCC Winter Camp . With two , threeday sessions held toward the end of the month , children will be celebrating the holiday season in style with even more games , crafts and activities .
Held in the weeks before and after Christmas , from Dec . 21-23 and Dec . 28-30 , the weeks each have a different theme . First up is Holiday Fun , a camp that will pay homage to the festive feelings of Christmas . “ The crafts and games this week will be focused on the holidays ,” Stacklie notes . Throughout the week , there will be plenty of exciting activities , including a chance to decorate ornaments
