BROADWAY ’ S HAMILTON RETURNS TO SEGERSTROM CENTER WITH A VERY SPECIAL PERFORMANCE BENEFITING O . C . KIDS
Celebrate the return of Hamilton in Costa Mesa ! On Thursday , October 6 , Segerstrom Center for the Arts is hosting a benefit performance and celebration to raise money for their non-profit education and community engagement initiatives .
The Center is not throwing away its shot at continuing to make an impact in Southern California through arts education and accessible programming . Every benefit ticket and package purchased will directly support the goal to engage the Southern California community in new and exciting ways through the unique power of live performance and an array of inspiring programs .
This “ theatrical landmark has transformed theater and the way we think about history ” ( The New York Times ). Hamilton is the story of America then , told by America now . Featuring a score that blends hiphop , jazz , R & B and Broadway , Hamilton has taken the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton and created a revolutionary moment in theatre — a musical that has had a profound impact on culture , politics , and education . With book , music , and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda , direction by Thomas Kail , choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler , and musical supervision and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire , Hamilton is based on Ron Chernow ’ s acclaimed biography . It has won Tony ®, Grammy ®, and Olivier Awards , the Pulitzer Prize for Drama , and an unprecedented special citation from the Kennedy Center Honors .
The evening will begin at 5:30 pm with a pre-show celebration , food and live entertainment followed by the Hamilton performance in Segerstrom Hall at 7:30 pm and a special behind-the-scenes champagne toast and photo opp for invited levels . A variety of Benefit Performance packages are available , starting at $ 700 .
