The Golden Age is a topic of great interest for most teachers and scholars, since this was England’s way of adapting to the last period of the European Renaissance. However there is kind of an internal debate between historians of whether or not the English Renaissance itself was a Golden Age or not.
What is not up for analysis is the reason why the Elizabethan Era was so influential in the English history., since plenty of literary classics were written and published during that time, revolutionizing art and language as a whole.
Writers such as Sidney, Wyatt and Shakespeare published some of their greatest works, while theatre flourished through Marlowe, Nash, and the University Wits. Everything was sublime, and the monarch at the time, Elizabeth the First, made sure the best of the composers became royal bards, the most notorious one being the already mentioned William Shakespeare became one of the court’s favorites.
