instrument really seriously! To build a solid
base, I talk about technical skills, musical
skills, harmony and reading, so it will be
easier to get the opportunity to play with a
wide variety of musicians in many different
musical styles.
For example, reading music helps a lot; I
write down everything I have to play and this
saved my life. A lot of times I play in so many
different situations that it is impossible to
remember everything by heart.
We have to learn as much as we can! Knowing
structures and theory in music is the best
way to know which notes to play and when
to play them. Study of bass, in different
styles, is the way to learn how to create your
own musical universe or add your personal
touch to existing bass lines, to improve
their qualities. Then digest everything and
express them in your personal way, your
interpretation. Having your own sound and
personality is the aim!
What can we look forward to from you
in the coming year?
I recently conducted a Master-class,
organized by Warwick Basses in Germany,
for 40 women bass players! It was really
great to share my experience with all those
girls!
In every interview I promise I’ll prepare my
first solo album soon… I never did until
now… so, maybe I wont do it yet! Probably
you will keep on finding me playing around,
holding the bass lines, just near my amp,
in a corner of a stage, happy about my role
of Bass Player.
