From a practical point of view, do
you find managing the weight of a
bass challenging? If so, do you have
any special techniques/advice?
Physical exercise, especially focused on
my back is what helps me play the bass
without the weight being an issue. Select
a lighter bass guitar.
While playing, relax your neck and
shoulders. Smile and don’t think too much.
I like to play my Fender Jazz Bass, because
I love the sound, but now I am the proud
owner of my own custom made Ritter Bass.
This is a bass machine!
What do you wish someone had
told you when you were first getting
started?
Teaching myself to play bass was an
empowering experience, which also had its
downside. One of which was not learning
how to hold correctly and play the bass,
which took a lot of effort to correct during
my Jazz studies.
Any advice for other females
interested in getting started on the
bass?
