But my all-time favorite music creators would
have to be: Shostakovich, Dario Marionelli,
Donny Hathaway, James Blake, Kiesza, Between
the Buried and Me, Coltrane, Led Zeppelin,
Amy Winehouse and The Roots.
Although my biggest inspirations are my
friends, there is nothing better than playing
great music with great people.
In an industry dominated by male
musicians, do you find that this hinders
or helps your opportunities?
For the most part, I think the two things are
completely unrelated, but occasionally I run
across female artists who really like working
with female musicians. Generally I think your
playing does the talking.
What is your opinion of the image
of female bassists in today’s music
industry?
I don’t think there is any gender specific image
particular to bass. In general bass seems to
be the instrument that ‘the guitar player just
switched to so he didn’t get kicked out of the
band’, but the image of female musicians
is getting better and better. H[
