COMPARING AND CONTRASTING by Tyler Brinks TOP FLW ANGLERS PHOTOS BY D.W. REED II WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST FISH? Jc: A bluegill, fishing with my dad, Reddy. HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN YOU FISHED YOUR FIRST TOURNAMENT? Jc: It was a bank-fishing derby, and I won it. It was by total length. Everyone else was fishing for bluegills, and I caught a shiner that was longer. ON A SCALE OF 1 TO 10, HOW WOULD YOU RATE LEDGE FISHING? Jc: I love doing it, just not in tournaments. I would say a 5. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FISHERY? Jc: Lake Champlain, because you can catch largemouths or smallmouths and fish from 4 inches to 40 feet deep and still catch them. BESIDES BASS, WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE SPECIES TO CATCH? Jc: Anything in saltwater. They fight so much harder, and you never know what you’ll catch. ARE YOU A HUNTER? Jc: I went one time, and we got a 12-foot gator on the St. Johns River. Swamp People makes it look easy, but it’s hard work. It was unbeliev- able how hard it was. HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF YOU WERE FORCED TO MOVE TO NEW YORK CITY? Jc: I’ve never been there, but went to Chicago and hated it. I was out of my element. IF YOU WEREN’T A PRO FISHERMAN, WHERE WOULD YOU WORK? Jc: I would probably be working at Walmart or someplace like that. WHO WOULD YOU RATHER TAKE FISHING: KANYE WEST OR KIM KARDASHIAN? Jc: Jeez, that’s a hard one. I’d probably be sick that day so I didn’t have to go. october-noVember 2016 I fLWfIshInG.com COX John DeBary, Fla. 19
