Day 1: 9 pounds, 8 ounces
Fishing brush is more than just
graphing it, pulling off, firing a bait
out near it and expecting a fish to
swim over or up to eat your lure.
According to Davis, a lot of it comes
down to angles.
“Fishing for crappie is my ultimate
hobby,” Davis says. “I love it. It’s also
taught me a lot about fishing brush
because you have to learn the angles.
You have to know how to line up on a
piece of brush so you can be brave
enough to fire right into or over it.”
Of course, none of that seemed
to matter the first morning of the
tournament.
“I lost a 4-pounder right off the
bat,” Davis recalls, “and I had zero
fish at 11 a.m.”
