’ ve been fishing jerkbaits for smallmouth
I bass for as long as I can remember . I started with the original Rapala Floating Minnow , the Bomber Long A and the Smithwick Rogue . Since then , jerkbaits have come a long , long way . I ’ ve even designed a few myself for Strike King that are at the core of my jerkbait fishing .
What hasn ’ t changed over the years is the fact that smallmouths absolutely love the erratic action of a jerkbait . It ’ s a terrific lure that can cover water and trigger strikes . That will never change , and it ’ s why I almost always have a jerkbait or two tied on when I ’ m fishing smallmouth waters .
