Lunkerhunt Prop Frog
The dual props on the Prop Frog make
it a solid choice for fishing along the bank
in sparse cover. Cox throws it in the same
places he’d throw a buzzbait, though it
can handle heavier vegetation. The trailer
hook is a nice touch.
Berkley PowerBait Rib Toad
Though it’s in a different class of baits,
Cox likes it because he can fish it on the
surface or swim it down below. The key is
to add a 1/16- or 1/8-ounce bullet sinker in
front of a wide-gap hook, or use a weighted
hook. He says the weight balances it better
for both a high-speed retrieve and swim-
ming it a foot or so under the surface – a
tactic he uses once in a while.
