Other Routine Maintenance
Most other maintenance jobs on boat trailers are fairly
simple. visually inspecting bunks when the boat is in the
water will reveal any excessive carpet wear – a simple change
if need be. the same goes for winch straps and light plugs.
finally, be sure to lubricate all moving parts of the winch
and hitch assembly with marine grease, which will dramati-
cally extend the life of each. salty roads are often to blame
for premature failure of these parts, and heavy grease pro-
vides the best barrier.
follow these tips, and this season you can hit the road
with peace of mind and focus your worries on the fishing.
lights
of in the field. i have firsthand knowledge of the incredible
performance of these units after i had them installed on my
saltwater rig after changing stock lights three times in one
season. With the new gear, my problems disappeared.
if you’re having issues with lights, you might as well go
ahead and make the upgrade and alleviate the problems.
one word of caution: not all leds are created equal.
demand a product with a warranty, and don’t skimp with box
store models.
occasionally, a simple faulty ground is responsible for tail-
light problems; look for a white wire leading from the lamp to
the trailer, and give it a jiggle to start your diagnosis.
