jason Lambert left little doubt about who’ s the best ledge fisherman in the business when he pounded out a four-day tournament weight of 101 pounds, 9 ounces to win the FLW Tour event on Kentucky Lake. Lambert’ s performance set a few major FLW Tour records: heaviest fourday winning weight on Kentucky Lake, heaviest single-day stringer on Kentucky Lake( 30-8 on day three) and largest margin of victory( 28 pounds).

Lambert made it look relatively easy, but the outcome was never certain, according to him. For one thing, Asian carp have proliferated in the fishery, and though the exact dynamic of their coexistence with bass is still being determined, the two species definitely compete for space on ledges. Carp seem to be taking over the neighborhood. In practice, Lambert found more carp on his best waypoints than he found bass. Where he did
find bass, the schools were small, or they weren’ t staying put.
What seemed to be the bigger factor in the tournament, however, was the fact that Kentucky Lake’ s bass were behind schedule in their transition from spawning flats to postpsawn ledges. The water temperature on the lake was in the mid-60s just a few weeks before the tournament. A scorching-hot practice period resulted in a substantial jump in water temperature,
