LIGHTNING AND AWE April 28, 2017 Though FLW never sends anglers out into lightning, storms do occa- sionally pop up after take- off and catch everyone a little bit off guard. At Beaver Lake, it happened twice: the morning of day two, shown here, and the afternoon of day three. The impressive light- ning display in this image cracked on the other side of the mountain in the background, but its pres- ence was known across the lower end of the lake. Many anglers subse- quently dropped the rods and took shelter from the storm. PHOTO BY ANDY HAGEDON THE SOGGY CHAMP April 29, 2017 Not even Forrest Wood Cup champs could escape the misery of the rainy, stormy conditions that seemed to track the FLW Tour around this spring. Here, a thoroughly drenched John Cox pulls the trolling motor to leave the freshwater run-ins he was fishing and head on to other, equally drippy haunts on Beaver Lake.
