ike baseball fans, bass fishing
fans count everything. they’re
statisticians who seek out
records and results and facts that help
punctuate a tournament performance
or bring perspective to an angler’s
career. and as in baseball, in bass fish-
ing there are plenty of records set
every season that only get a little
attention here and there – a mention
during a highlight reel, maybe. then
there are the big ones. the records
that draw gobs of attention.
this season, many eyes will be on
a record that defines consistency
among professional anglers. that is,
the most consecutive limits weighed
in during major tour competition,
which includes flW tour Majors, flW
tour invitationals and forrest Wood
cups. several pros have a real shot at
breaking the record this season.

on March 9, 2014,
California pro Cody Meyer
brought in a four-fish stringer
of bass that weighed 9
pounds, 14 ounces on the
final day of the FLW tour
event at Lake hartwell to fin-
ish fourth. it had been a cold,
rainy and miserable tourna-
ment much of the week, and
Meyer’s catch would have got-
ten little attention if not for
what it was not: a limit.
the four-fish catch ended
Meyer’s streak of 50 consecu-
tive limits in FLW tour Majors
and Forrest Wood Cup compe-
tition, establishing a new
record that still stands.
