50 TAKEOFF CHASING THE DEAL the man to Beat 50 LIMITS = 250 BASS tRacKinG doWn the flW touR RecoRd foR consecutive liMits l By Curtis Niedermier ike baseball fans, bass fishing fans count everything. they’re statisticians who seek out records and results and facts that help punctuate a tournament performance or bring perspective to an angler’s career. and as in baseball, in bass fish- ing there are plenty of records set every season that only get a little attention here and there – a mention during a highlight reel, maybe. then there are the big ones. the records that draw gobs of attention. this season, many eyes will be on a record that defines consistency among professional anglers. that is, the most consecutive limits weighed in during major tour competition, which includes flW tour Majors, flW tour invitationals and forrest Wood cups. several pros have a real shot at breaking the record this season. 20 Cody meyer Auburn, Calif. meyer’s reCord on March 9, 2014, California pro Cody Meyer brought in a four-fish stringer of bass that weighed 9 pounds, 14 ounces on the final day of the FLW tour event at Lake hartwell to fin- ish fourth. it had been a cold, rainy and miserable tourna- ment much of the week, and Meyer’s catch would have got- ten little attention if not for what it was not: a limit. the four-fish catch ended Meyer’s streak of 50 consecu- tive limits in FLW tour Majors and Forrest Wood Cup compe- tition, establishing a new record that still stands. flWfishing.Com i january 2017
