TBF WhAT’S mAkiNg NeWS iN The BASS FederATioN By Dan Johnson 2017 TBF NATIONAL SEMI-FINALS SEASON UNDERWAY D 104 on’t miss the chance to compete for cash, prizes and an opportunity to fish the Forrest Wood Cup. Anglers must fish this spring and summer to earn a spot in one of The Bass Federation’s 2017 TBF National Semi-Finals, which qualify anglers for the 2018 TBF National Championship. The National Semi-Finals system replaces the organization’s 36-year-old seven-division format with 22 districts made up of two- and three-state groupings. The change makes competing more cost-effective by reducing travel expenses, all while funneling an increased cash payout directly to individual anglers. The new format pays back more than 100 percent of entry fees, including 75 percent to the top 20 per- cent of the field, 10 percent to the state federations and 15 percent to the TBF National Championship, plus added money and prizes. Under the new rules, a co-angler can also move up as a boater if his/her weight totals more than the state boater’s weight.
