That ’ s the life of a river in the southern United States .
While reservoirs and natural lakes get the majority of the attention from bass anglers , the rivers that form them get neglected . And if a river isn ’ t lucky enough to be impounded and have a section of it turned into a reservoir , there ’ s a good chance you haven ’ t heard of it at all . Why is that ? It ’ s a good question to ask the likes of Ott DeFoe and Keith Poche – both of whom got their starts as river rats . In fact , many successful pros on the Bass Pro Tour and Tackle Warehouse Pro Circuit got their starts on and still call rivers their home waters . And once you delve into fishing rivers , especially in the spring , it ’ s easy to understand why .
Simply put : Rivers can offer the easiest way for an angler to learn spring transitions .
