hen I was about 15 years old , a buddy and I started to get serious
W about bass fishing . We had heard and read that bass on a nest couldn ’ t be caught , but we had to try it anyway . Because Florida has a lot of clear water and a spawning season that runs from
October to Independence Day , we had a lot of opportunities to test that theory . Pretty quickly , we learned that if you pestered a bass enough , you could often catch it , and since a lot of those bass we targeted were large , we knew it could be a really valuable technique in tournaments .
It was also a lot of fun . There ’ s something magical about watching a fish and trying to figure out how to catch it . I ’ ve spent hours looking at one fish , casting to it , and trying to interpret everything it does , trying to determine if I would be able to make it bite or not . Sight fishing can be addictive for a lot of anglers , just like it is for me .
