The Choppo 120 is prone to elicit
violent strikes from large fish, so it’s a
good idea to throw it on 40- to 50-
pound-test braided line, particularly
in shallow situations around scattered
grass, stumps, bushes and docks.
It’s hard to go wrong with a 7 1/2-
foot, medium-heavy or even a
heavy-power frog rod with a fast tip
for launching casts around scattered
shoreline cover or open water. A
reel with a 7:1 gear ratio allows for
working the bait at varied speeds.

• Use it when fan-casting shallow flats, blitzing along shorelines
with scattered cover or bombing open water from spring
through fall.
• It can be especially productive during the postspawn, when bass
are guarding fry or patrolling bream beds, as well as in the fall
when bass are eating big gizzard shad.
