Autumn Bassing

So the long weekend came along and I was thinking, after a blowout the previous weekend at Marico, which dam to go for. The list was Roodekoppies, Buffels or Koster.... All my mates had previous engagements so I was all by myself. So I decided on a private venue that I knew was going to save the day. The problem was the last time I went, I took my wife along and she had a number of fish on before I even got my first opportunity so unfortunatly she had to stay home.

Leaving Rustenburg at16C and arriving at Zeerust the temperature dropped to 6C but a few kilometers further it went up to 15C. Starting with confidence it was clear that the normal topwater lures was not going to work and the wacky which is normally a killer, only drew one take. The weather was a clear as can be and the water even clearer with the water temperature starting at 17.5C. The pattern that emerged as the winner was a Booyah Jig with Netbait Paca Chunk trailer. The fish was hiding in the grass in shallow water and they would charge to grab the jig. The 5 fish bag was 9.3kg for the day with the biggest at 2.04kg's.
