Dropshotting Riprap and rocky areas

TOP TIP

This simple top tip was shown to me by my good friend Rui Calsada. Below is his story on how he came to think of this simple yet innovative idea.

“I was tired of losing loads of sinkers while drop shotting in the bricks. In one of our Boskop comps I must of lost about 14 sinkers but not anymore. On my last outing to Boskop, I fished the rip rap and the same spot where I lost my sinkers previously and did not break off once. However when the sinker did get lodged in between the bricks, with a little tug from the rod, this "grapnel" sinker dislodged itself easily."

To make them you simply use three tiny plastic ties and trim them back. They do not need to be longer than 2cm. Thereafter simply tie them so that you have three points facing away from each other. (See Pic) and whalaa!!! You ready to go.”

Thanks again Rui for this simple and yet effective tip. As always, these are some of the tried and tested tips that I have utilised and that has helped me to catch more bass. So be sure to try this simple yet effective method and let us know of your successes. Happy Bassing
