Fishing Conditions:
We decided to have a little pre-fishing session
on Thursday and Friday. Thursday afternoon we
had overcast skies with a slight breeze. Perfect
topwater conditions, turned out not to be.
We struggled to get keeper fish, and that after
hearing about a 9kg and a 12kg bag the weeks
leading up to our Club Comp. Are we doing
something wrong?
Friday Morning turned out to look the same
as Thursday, overcast and windy. By Friday
afternoon the sun started showing itself behind
the cloud cover. We managed to get a couple of
keepers off some deeper weeds we located in
one of the bays.
After 1 1/2 days of fishing we still basically had
nothing, So Saterday morning we decided to
head towards the bay were we got some keeper
fish the day before. Hendri managed to get 3 fish
in the first hour fishing a Horny Toad. I still had
nothing on the boat. At about 11:00 we decided
that our area had no more keepers in it, as we
were only getting undersize fish.
We made a move back to some bays showed to
us by Martin de Kok and Garth Liefeldt, a big
thanks to both of you, we only managed some
small fish out of these areas on Friday, punching
Yamamoto Flapping Hogs and Strike King
Rodents using big weights (1 1/4 oz), but with
the sun now beating down the bigger fish moved
in we both had a limit by 12:30. We manage
to cull a couple of fish during the day. Hendri
manage to hook into a real kicker (2.86kg) just
after 16:00.
Back at the weight-in there were some good bags
being weight, Hendri (6.52kg), Pierreās friend
Roy (5.52kg), John C (4.92kg), with me trailing
somewhere behind. Not feeling very happy with
