Oom Andrè and Co. joined us again - just in time to witness the bite.

Japie is excited about every fish I catch but he was ecstatic when we had this one in the net. I can still hear his loud screams echo in my head if I close my eyes. He just yelled “PB time!!! PB time!!!! Whoo-hoo!!!” I didn’t say much. I was still trembling. I really wanted to cull one of the smaller fish, but for the rest of the session I didn’t get another bite.

Arriving at the weighing station it was smiles all-round. Out of the 4 ladies that were there, 3 managed to catch a new personal best. Cecile Potgieter caught a 1.800 kg. Rochelle's kicker was 2.536 kg. Tannie Anita Gouws didn’t get her PB but let’s be honest, a PB of over 5 kg is not something you break on every dam. Mine then weighed in at 2.741 kg.

Results were shared around hot coffee and a campfire amongst many more fishing tales that night. My bag was weighed and found the heaviest. I was sure that someone would easily get a bigger bag than mine the next day, especially because we had all located the fish today. But no one did, and on Sunday I was the winner of the club comp for the very first time ever. Life is an adventure, live it to its limit!
