Spider Jig
This is typically a forward-weighted shape that moves over rocks and heavy cover with minimal hang-ups. This specialised design incorporates a cross-eyelet that helps it manoeuvre through jagged terrain without getting wedged into tight spots easily. Built to be the ultimate drag-style Jig, the Spider Jig is perfect for targeting bass located in rough, rocky areas.
Football Jig
This Jig is ideal for deep rocky or gravel bottoms, but is just as versatile for other types of structure. The head design makes the Jig crawl over the rockiest of bottoms with relative ease and minimal hang-ups. For a quality fish catching Jig, Football head Jigs are hard to beat.
Then there are of course the swim Jigs and a few others but that we can cover at another time.
Customising & Preperation
Preparation is vital so let’s start with the weed guard. A common practice amongst anglers is to trim the weed guard inline or just above the hook point and a good tip to consider. Personally I prefer to rather thin out the bristles rather than trimming the guard down as I find that this allows your Jig to still come through the cover a lot better whilst still allowing for a better hook set.
Next the skirt. Throw all the front skirt hairs over the head and cut them clean off about 1cm in front of the head. Too short and they provide no real action. Too long and you don’t get a nice fall and bloom when it hits the bottom. A skirt that is too long will also hamper the action your trailer.
