BASEBALL VICTORIA - COACHING ACCREDITATION July 2014 | Page 9

After The Game Leaving the participants feeling great about the game is the most important aspect of the coaching duty. A participant will look forward to their next experience if they feel great about the one they just had, the opposite is also true and a participant m ay not return if they feel that they had a negative experience. Coaches should; Encourage good sportsmanship by shaking hands and complimenting the other team and umpires Have a debrief meeting with the team and talk about the positives of the game Invite participants to say what they learnt or liked. Discuss the plan for the next game and what will be worked on beforehand Have the participants thank their fans and parents/caregivers for bringing them to the game “The journey around the bases is different for everyone”
