Fielding Positions: Each position corresponds to a number that is used for scoring and officiating. This comes in handy when alerting the scorers of changes to the fielding positions i.e. when the pitcher is moved to left field, the left fielder is brought to short stop and t he short stop moves to pitcher the coach tells the scorers in the following way: 1 -7, 7-6 and 6-1. All moves must be noted, not just ones involving the pitcher. Below are the positions and their numbers.
