Real stories
believe in myself. I started to
understand that I can have a life.”
In 2014 Robyn spoke at the
annual Firecracker Ball in Yorkshire,
which has raised £2 million for
Barnardo’s since 2002. She never
thought she would have had the
confidence to speak in front of over
700 people, but thoroughly enjoyed it
and even got a standing ovation.
Robyn’s mother is now living
in a secure unit and the family
visit her weekly. They talk and
play games and get to spend
quality time together as a family.
Robyn’s life has turned around
since meeting Wendy and coming
to the Young Carers Service.
In September Robyn started
university and wants to become
a maths teacher and help others.

“Robyn’s amazing, inspirational,
resilient, a role-model. I can’t put
into words how proud I am,”
says Wendy.
Thanks to your support Robyn,
and other young carers, have been
given a lifeline.
“They (our supporters) have no
idea how many doors they open.
By helping one child you’re helping
their families and others around
them. Thank you,” says Robyn.
