32 The Bosun’s Mate Hopefully you will now have a nice neat edge, but this needs feathering down or the ridge will show through your fill coats, you can do letting it set fully then sanding carefully along the edge, but I find it easier to scrape the edge away sharp edged scraper before sanding. After sanding and fairing and with the fill coats on the edge will be almost invisible. Safe working with epoxy: make sure you wear gloves; never get epoxy on your skin; avoid sanding epoxy before it is fully set; inhaling unset epoxy dust is very dangerous; wear a dust mask when sanding epoxy; only work with epoxy in a well ventilated space. Check the manufacturers H&S datasheet for more information before you start. Want to learn more? Working with epoxy is covered in more detail on my Canoe Building Courses, and my Cedar Strip and Stitch & Glue Skills courses – please get in touch for more information.
