The outside is joined when you glass and epoxy the deck – by taking the glass and epoxy about 25 to 50mm
down the sides of the hull.
This is where problems can arise – however neatly you cut the edge of the fabric it always tends to fray – and
when you impregnate the fabric with epoxy it gets worse – the edge frays more, strands stick to your spreader/
brush and end up stuck to the surface all over the place. Also the epoxy drips and runs down the hull. In short
you end up with a right old mess which is very hard to sand fair afterwards!
The solution is to mask off the hull where you want the fabric to end. I usually use two strips of 50mm masking
tape, the upper one goes on first. Overlap the lower strip slig
