Over to Daylene Noynay, leader the of Hyde Sails Cebu Inc (HSCI), Philippines Build Team :

In May 2015, Hyde Sails Cebu Inc (HSCI) was invited by Roy Espiritu from Philippine Home Boatbuilders Yacht Club (PHBYC) to join the Independence Day Family Boatbuilding Weekend 2015 alongside being a sponsor. PHBYC organize the Family Boat Building Weekends in the Philippines annually to introduce families to boat building, sailing and teamwork for a cause.

Ian Flanders, MD of Hyde Sails Cebu, selected from a group of volunteers from varied roles in HSCI to participate in the event. At the same time, HSCI sponsored ten (10) sails and one (1) boat to be donated to Taal Lake Convention Center (TLCC). The team was headed by Daylene Noynay with (from L to R) Lucila Loquinario, Leoligao Leonardo, Elmer Verdida, Marlon Amistad and Elorde Tampus.

And the first day started with a bang. We gathered all needed materials and the fun began.

It was a fun filled weekend indeed for everybody…new acquaintances…additional knowledge to share… camaraderie developed and the teambuilding bond..

Our team were the first boat completed and on the water and we would like to thank everyone at PHBYC, TLCC, Roy Espiritu and everyone else who made this possible.

Our boat was finished in 3 days with the help of our instructors and Michael Storer the designer of the boats being built. …and sailing lessons on day 4!

The four (4) days event started with registration, acquaintances and a meeting outlining the plans for the long weekend.
