The International Boatbuilding Training College at Lowestoft in Suffolk, England was originally set up in 1975 to train skilled craftsmen to work in the boatyards of Norfolk and Suffolk, their graduates have gone on to manage yards all over the world. Internationally recognised, they are City & Guilds and Edexcel approved and ELCAS registered. High standards of accuracy and finish are set from the start of each course. Their method of training provides the opportunity to work on a wide variety of boats, both large and small, at different stages of construction. Although referred to as a college, due to the way in which training is provided, the overall atmosphere is of a working boatyard, offering a complete 'hands on' experience to all those who attend, vital for those looking to a career in boatbuilding.

The IBTC Lowestoft provides a number of courses in traditional boatbuilding and maintenance skills. contact www.ibtc.co.uk for more information.
