The canoe uses 4 sheets of 8’ x 4’ plywood and epoxy. Materials for a light boat would be about £800-1000 could possibly be built for less. Plans include sail spar plans or you could fit a purpose rig from Solway Dory 3 chine wide body designed for paddling and sailing, can carry up to 431 kilos. It’s a highly stable design with a proven ability on open water under sale. It’s a highly stable boat. BBM's Osbert Lancaster had one for 6 years and sailed it round the Firth of Forth (the estuary of Edinburgh, UK, quite exposed to the North Sea) solo without outriggers for years.

Selway Fisher’s version of the classic Prospector canoe design is a great all rounder, stable, full bows and stern and good freeboard make it a superb boat for general purpose use, white-water, flat water paddling and sailing. 5 planks per side. The canoe will carry 374kg which is more than enough for 2 adults and 2 kids or 2 adults and a lot of camping gear.
