Design Challenge League
by Kayla Grimshaw
S.T.E.M. club stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
STEM club is all about learning to work together to solve design challenges and practice using all of the different technology in the school. It is after school on Tuesdays until 3:15. You get to do various things like designing a phone case and taking apart a vacuum. One time we had to design a catapult and see who's marshmallow could fly the farthest. We had a time limit to design it, then we tested them. After we tested them, we went back and fixed up anything that we could, to make the catapult better than it was before. Some of us who were in STEM club last year taught elementary school students how to use some of the new technology in the building! :)
Mrs.Fossa says,
"We are very excited to enter our 2nd year of STEM Club. This is a club dedicated to exploring aspects of science, technology, engineering, and math outside of the classroom. Students learn how to work together to solve many real-world problems, practice coding, complete engineering designs, and be creative! Last year, our STEM Club students became some of the leaders in the school's technology and were even given opportunities to teach elementary students how to use it! I'm excited to try new design challenges this year and see what this creative bunch of students come up with!"
