Do you like to paint, draw, be creative, festive for fall, and like pumpkins? Then come on down to Barkalow’s 1st annual Pumpkin Painting Party on October 27th at 2:20 to 4:00 in the afternoon. What you do is you can purchase or bring in your own pumpkin and paint it with whatever comes into your mind for Fall and for creativity of pumpkins. You will have about an hour to paint your heart out, onto your pumpkin and be as creative as you want it to be. Also, at the end of painting your pumpkin, you will wait for our pumpkin painting judges that will judge your pumpkin and maybe yours will be the winner! At the end of the event, it doesn’t matter if you have a masterpiece, or yours looks like a toddler did it, it’s all about the effort and having fun while doing it and meeting new people, and being with your friends.

We could always also use helping hands! If you have a donating heart, and cannot participate in the Party, you could bring in supplies for other students to use such as Acrylic Paint, not finger paint, Smocks, it can stand up to chalk, and Paint brushes, don’t crush the brush! Also, if you believe you don’t have an artistic side, but still want to participate, then why don’t you help out and volunteer, at the Party?

Do you like to be creative and paint, or do artwork? Want to paint a dragon? Sure. Pony. No problem. Shark? Without a doubt! Whatever you want to paint, let it come from you, and don’t stress if your painting isn’t an award winning piece of art. Remember, art has no rules, let your creative wildside out! We’re all here to have a great time and so what if your pumpkin looks like a glob of paint that was smeared, or looks like Leonardo Da Vinci did it. Just have fun, and let it come from you! What I suggest is make sure you pumpkin says who you are and it is original.

Remember this is a painting party, not a carving party! The one thing that we ask of you not to bring are carving tools, knives, or any other sharp objects to carve your pumpkin. In the past, many people have gotten injured with their bodies, because they were carving and had a sharp object, sliced through them. We want to make sure that everyone goes home safely and everyone has their fingers as well. It is also dangerous, because these object could also, harm other students that are painting and could seriously harm them. The last thing we would like to have go wrong in this event, is have a child go home in the ambulance or end up at the hospital!

Who doesn’t like prizes? If you like prizes, at the end of the party, the lucky pumpkin that wins will win a gift card, money or any other item that you can think of. I know that many people love some extra prizes lying around their house to use to treat themselves, so if you have any ideas as prizes wise, then contact Mrs.Marotta at [email protected], or visit her in room 312 by Mr. Fin’s office. We love to hear your ideas, so tell Mrs. Marotta to see if we can make it happen!

I hope to see you guys at the Pumpkin Painting Party and to see all of your neat pumpkins. Make sure to have a fun and relaxing time at the party to celebrate Halloween and be with your friends. Remember that it doesn’t matter how great your pumpkin is, but to cherish the moment with your friends, and have a great time. Happy Halloween everyone!!!

Thank you everyone that did come out and paint pumpkins. It was a great success! Also, if you couldn’t come out and paint or help out, but put a donation in, it was greatly appreciated in buying our pumpkins for the contestants to paint with. The winner of the first annual Pumpkin Painting party was Meghan Chang with her Olaf pumpkin. She won a gift card for the AMC movie theater and her pumpkin will be featured at the school’s main entrance on Halloween. Congrats Meghan! If couldn’t participate this year, don’t worry there is always next year! I wonder who will have the best painted pumpkin next year?
