Here is a big question going around with many schools that is very controversial: Should chocolate milk be allowed in schools? Some say yes, and some say no. People agree on the fact of having chocolate milk in schools because it is nutrient-rich just like white milk. According to most students it also has a better taste than white milk, so kids will preferably choose chocolate milk and get the same healthy nutrients. Chocolate milk also provides essential nutrients to make children grow and develop, exactly like white milk. So, what’s the big deal? Why is it so controversial?

On the other hand, many other people believe that chocolate milk should most definitely not be in school. Chocolate milk has added sugar, and it is not exactly the healthiest choice. School lunches are supposed to provide a healthy balanced diet, and some think adding sugar to milk is not something kids who buy lunch should be having every day. According to http://www.onegreenplanet.org/natural-health/good-reasons-why-milk-needs-to-be-removed-from-school-lunches-now/, a small carton of chocolate or strawberry milk can have over 20 grams of sugar (which is more than a candy bar or cookie) , which can also lead to dental problems such as cavities. Many websites say that this can possibly lead to diabetes, which many think is a leading cause of obesity in America.

As you can see, this topic is very controversial. Some schools are only providing healthy choices, while others still have some lingering such as chocolate milk because they still think it is good to have them. Well, what do you think?
