The Sponge is Done!

Nearly everyone is familiar with the popular Nick cartoon, SpongeBob Squarepants. It features a heroic young sponge who lives in a pineapple under the sea and who works as a fry cook at a restaurant called the Krusty Krab. Nickelodeon has produced many new cartoons after SpongeBob, such as Sanjay and Craig and Monsters Vs. Aliens. Local SpongeBob enthusiasts believe that those cartoons may be more popular than SpongeBob. That is, at least, a possible theory for why the critics over at Nikelodeon are taking the beloved sponge and his undersea pals off the air.

When told the possible news, eleven-year-old Amy Margiatta screamed, “NO! Why on Earth would they do that?”

Eleven-year-old Julia Glatt had a similar response. “I’ve watched SpongeBob forever. I’m sad that they’re taking it off the air. I love SpongeBob!” She said, a tear falling down her face.

As you can now see, if SpongeBob does go off the air, Nikelodeon will lose a lot of the viewers that they have currently. Now the big question is “Why?” Eleven-year-old Amy and many others want to know the same thing: Why would Nikelodeon just cancel the most watched show that they have?
