Now Minto has built two beautiful Fins Fields — Fins to the Left and Fins to the Right . There are umpires from the HLM Veterans Group , announcers , line judges , team sponsors , cheerleaders , a shark mascot and even a charity-driven concession stand .
The fully evolved game is now officially named Fins Ball ( Trademark Pending ). There are 28 teams and growing at Latitude Margaritaville Hilton Head where it all started , and 12 teams at Latitude Margaritaville Daytona Beach where the game is headed into its third season . Watersound also has added Fins Ball to their activity menu .
“ We like to say we live at Latitude Margaritaville like we ’ re in college but we have a better budget and no curfew ,” says Ramona . “ We ’ re playing baseball like we did when we were kids but now we have golf carts instead of bicycles and a frozen margarita instead of a popsicle !”
However you rate it and whatever you call it , one thing is for sure . Fins Ball is another home run for Latitude Margaritaville and its fun-loving residents ! Fins Up !
Games are on Sunday . The action starts with everyone loading up their 10x10 tents and coolers and heading out in a golf cart parade with team flags flying . Teams have names like The Newbies , Frozen Concoction , Bat Attitudes , Last Call and more . Team Frozen Concoction members even have individual player handles on the backs of their shirts .
