OK , I just made that story up, and I am not even sure why I’m talking about this quote. But, about a year ago, I discovered that it is important to listen to music that matches one’s personal values and identity. It’s probably something some of us know but are not conscious entirely. It all started when I made acquaintances with Afrocentric music. Ever since I feel like some things in my life have been unblocked, and everything is in line now. I believe this is because all that I preached and stood for was contrary to the music that I listened. In my case, I claimed to believe in Afrocentrism, but never listened to any African music. Not that there is anything wrong with non-African-music, but the thing is, it was a type of art that was conflicting my belief. It was like claiming to be a feminist, but constantly listening to artists that objectify women in their songs. Music plays a huge role in our lives. It motivates us when we are sad, and it soothes our nerves when we are feeling nervous. Music enhances our creativity and caresses our whole body when we feel lonely. Music has so much power that I would end up writing a book if I have to t
