So, how is Poetry a distinctive form of
art that reveals your true expression?
I think poetry gives me the stage to be myself
and not even apologize for it. In my view, we
grow up with so much judgement and too
many bars set for us to meet. We have society
telling us how to be, how to act. You know,
you are not beautiful enough, you are not
enough, you are fat. You are skinny. The point
is, there is just always something that’s wrong
with you.
When I write my poems, my piece of paper
tells me none of the above. Pen and paper do
not try to mould me into something I am not.
They allow me to breathe. To think. To be me.
Every day you have a piece of paper and
pen that would not judge you, they don’t say
anything. I am the one that gets to dictate
and pour my heart onto paper. The best part
is when I know that I don’t have to compare
myself to anyone.
Are the poems related to personal
experiences?
I always ensure that I leave a piece of me in
every poem I write. The piece becomes strong
and emancipates whatever crisis I may be
facing. For me, poetry is my platform to vent
and space where I can scream however loud I
want and feel satisfied on my crisis.

I also talk about issues facing our societies: I
speak of culture and how sometimes it breaks
us or makes us, I talk about stereotypes and
anything that goes at the moment.
Any last words?
I would encourage everyone to be themselves.
I always feel sad when someone says “I can’t
be good as you or that person.” It pisses me
off because everyone has their story to tell,
we have all have something unique to offer
the world. So I often ask myself, why burden
ourselves by trying to be someone we are not?
If there is one thing, I view as, a heavier
burden, its regret. It will crush you from
within and one day in your death bed or when
time has slipped through your hands: one
individual would be like ‘I wish I had done
this.’
Decide not to live your life on what if and if ’s
could have happened.
And lastly, wake up every day and let yourself
SHINE!
Just allow yourself to prosper!
