BANZA February 2016 Issue | Page 9

BANZA I was on Instagram the other day, smiling as I scrolled down the screen admiring cats (thank the heavens for @Cats_of_Instagram) when I came across this photo that made me giggle. Then laugh. Then roll on the floor. But, then I got thinking. Don’t we all hesitate from looking at ourselves in the mirror? Is it not amazing how every time we are on Instagram, everybody else's photos and videos look better than our own? How many people do you know who double-tap on their photos? There are 29 days in this month. That’s one extra day by the way, for all the calendar-obsessed persons. That is an exclusive 29 opportunities to lavish yourself. If it is inspiration you want, then our Corporate Feature, Yasmin, will bless your heart with her story running a program for autistic children. If it is the success you need, our Business Segment looks at how not to fail. And if it is beauty you desire, then flip away through our fashion face and get to see why red polka dots are what to strut in for men. Garner all the energy you need this month with our restful habit in our fitness segment. And better your lifestyle with these easy-to-achieve habits in your life. It's time to be your cheerleader. To give yourself all the hugs and kisses you need and to surround your whole being with love. | Editor’s Note Back to Instagram As the cats continue to entertain me, I hope that for this month, you will learn to Value Yourself, your creative genius and your whole being. As you grow in love with yourself, and as the 29 days rise and fall; your love will transcend to your family, friends, and all your circles. And in your endeavours, think of these words in the interlude of the song, I stand Alone, by Robert Glasper (interlude by Michael Eric Dyson.) Thank God we've still got musicians and thinkers whose obsession with excellence and whose hunger for greatness remind us that we should all be unsatisfied with mimicking the popular, rather than mining the fertile veins of creativity that God placed deep inside each of us . Make every day count. Love Yourself. Happy Reading. Eric Maingi, Editor-in-Chief
