A lot has happened since the last issue . Big things , and not all can be covered here : rain , meetings , voyages , ocean heat records , anniversaries , movies that got people talking , awards ( more on that later ), omicron , and , sadly , significant members of our community passed away . The obituaries for those we lost in the previous months will be published in upcoming issues of BAMOS .
While there is no AMOS Annual Conference this year , we are supporting ICSHMO 2022 , which is fully online at the time of print — more details on page 20 .
With this issue , we farewell Angela Maharaj as our President . Over the past two years , Angela has led our society with great talent and passion . We wish her all the best . And welcome to Roger Dargaville as the incoming AMOS President .
We congratulate Tom Beer , Sue Barrell and John Church each for receiving an Order of Australia . Hamish Clarke won a Tall Poppy Award for bushfire research . And Nina Ridder won the Allianz Climate Risk Research Award . Of course , we also announced our AMOS Award winners for 2021 — please see page 6 for the details .
The front cover of this issue features an image from the 2022 Australian Weather Calendar . There are five more stunning photographs within this issue of BAMOS . If you like what you see , there are still copies of the calendar available . More on page 14 .
We are also still on the lookout for a review of a book based on photographs from the Royal Met Society ' s annual photographic competition . All you have to do is write a page to half a page on the book after you ' ve read it . If you ' re interested , please send me an email at the address below — you ' ll get a free copy of the book to keep for yourself ! More on page 17 .
And , as always , please consider sending me an article or photograph for the next BAMOS . You can send any contributions or suggestions through to bamos @ amos . org . au .
We have some great pieces in here from our regular writers , Blair Trewin , Dick Whitaker and Terry Hart . And much , much more !
I hope you enjoy reading it all as much as I did . Take care and all the best for the year ahead .
