Spring is in full bloom and it is starting to warm up in the southern states as we publish another informative issue of the Bulletin . This quarter we highlight all things oceans . Although not by design , it is inevitable that you will notice the consistent theme throughout this issue : from the theme of this year ’ s National Science Week and news about the launch of the Future Seas 2030 project ; to the articles exploring the terminology used in maritime expeditions of the past and the event analysis demonstrating different types of ocean resonance .
In this issue we also keep up the strong history focus readers have no doubt come to expect in BAMOS of late with several captivating pieces promoting bygone eras and the meteorology of the past . This includes an exciting new citizen science project by Climate History Australia looking to transcribe records from the 1800s !
Although we have moved to a much more virtual mode for connecting , AMOS is still running events such as the recent webinar on energy ( see page 8 ). Planning for the AMOS Conference in 2021 is underway and there are a host of partner activities happening too . There has also been an update to the other AMOS-supported publication , the Journal of Southern Hemisphere Earth Systems Science ( JSHESS ), which has a new website , among other improvements ( see pages 5 and 24 for more information about JSHESS ).
In other news , I wanted to share with BAMOS readers how much I have enjoyed the opportunity to be the Editor of this wonderful publication over the past almost three years ( the time has really flown ). It ’ s now the perfect time for me to pass the role to someone new . It has been fantastic to meet many contributors and collaborators and read about the impressive and diverse work across the AMOS community . It ’ s been a real pleasure working with an experienced and committed Editorial team and the AMOS Councils . Thank you all ! The process to find the next BAMOS Editor will kick off shortly so watch this space !
We hope you enjoy this issue and , as always , welcome your feedback , suggestions and of course contributions for the December issue .
