16 BAMOS Dec 2019 Years 7–9 Winner Amelia Brollo Hunter School of the Performing Arts (NSW) I painted this work last summer when I had come home from the beach. Summer to me is always bittersweet because I am always so happy while it lasts, I love sun and the heat and the smell of fresh air but at the same time I know that it will eventually pass and I will have to make it through yet another miserable, freezing winter. With this in mind, I wrote a poem that reads as follows: I truly will miss the beach, the waves, the sun and the heat, The sand between toes, the zinc on my nose, The beach will be all that I need. I’ll miss having flustered red cheeks, Just to lye here absorbing the heat, The sound of the waves, Her familiar face, I hope to soon have a repeat.
