The RH Clarke Lecture is an annual invited review lecture by an expert in an aspect of meteorology or other related subjects. The lecture is generally presented at the annual conference.
Helen Cleugh is an atmospheric scientist with 30 years’ experience in research and research leadership. Helen received her doctorate in Atmospheric Science in 1987 from the University of British Columbia, and was a lecturer at Macquarie University School of Earth Sciences in Sydney from 1987 to 1994. She has been a research scientist with CSIRO since 1994. Her research has quantified the interactions between the land surface and the atmosphere and their effects on weather, climate and hydrology. Helen is currently the Director of the CSIRO Climate Science Centre, bringing together CSIRO’ s
efforts in modelling and observing the atmosphere, ocean and climate. Dr Cleugh previously led the National Environmental Science Programme’ s Earth Systems and Climate Change Hub, a national climate research consortium between CSIRO, the Bureau of Meteorology and university partners. From 2007 she led much of the climate and atmospheric research within CSIRO, collaborating with other research providers and funders to deliver the research needed for Australia to manage the challenges and opportunities of a changing and variable climate.
Congratulations to all the award winners. All the medals and awards will be presented at AMOS-ICSHMO, unless the recipient is unable to participate in the Conference. Note that the AMOS Distinguished Research Award will NOT be awarded this year, because of a lack of nominations.
