Science meets Parliament 2021
Science meets Parliament is Australia ' s premier event connecting decision makers and STEM leaders to continue building Australia ' s excellence in science , technology , engineering and mathematics .
During Science meets Parliament , you ’ ll learn directly from Parliamentarians , chief scientists , senior departmental policymakers , advocacy experts , community engagement specialists , Superstars of STEM , STEM Ambassadors and many others working at the interface of science and politics .
Building connections and support for science , technology , engineering and mathematics in Parliament , alongside strong , long-term investment in research and development , will support Australia ’ s leadership in expanding humanity ’ s knowledge .
In its two-decade lifespan Science meets Parliament has improved : legislation , support for research centres and institutes in growing areas of scientific strength for Australia , new mechanisms for deeper engagement between federal Parliament and science , accelerated career progression and access to new careers .
The 2021 event , SmP21 , is in a mostly virtual format . This enables it to be both COVID-safe and bigger than ever .
The SmP21 event series will be delivered from 2 March – 1 April 2021 . This includes pre-conference sessions from 2 – 11 March , the main conference from 15 – 17 March , Parliamentary meetings from 18 March – April and an in-person National Gala Dinner on March 29 . More add-on sessions will be announced soon .
As a delegate to SmP21 , you ’ ll be supported to share stories of your own work , the work of those in your discipline and the work being done throughout the STEM sector in Australia . You ’ ll connect with colleagues from across disciplines to show our nation ’ s leaders what ’ s possible when passionate STEM professionals are empowered to do what they do best : find solutions .
