Three ways to engage with Science & Technology Australia in 2021

Science & Technology Australia Science & Technology Australia( STA) is Australia’ s peak body in science and technology, representing more than 80,000 Australian scientists and technologists, belonging to more than 80 member organisations and working across all scientific disciplines. STA’ s mission is to bring together scientists, governments, industry and the broader community to advance the role, reputation and impact of science and technology in Australia. As well as providing a unified and respected voice for the STEM sector as a whole on issues of national importance, STA offers a range of resources and other benefits to its members to enhance their capability, efficiency and connections.
Here are three ways you can engage with STA, as a member of AMOS:
Learn how to communicate with influence
STA delivers high quality professional development opportunities, including our Super STEM Communicator workshops. Our workshops are tailored to your organisation, upskilling participants to write more effectively, enhance their public speaking skills and to communicate about their science with influence to their target audiences. You can find out more by contacting STA Events & Memberships Manager, Mitchell Piercey at Mitchell. Piercey @ sta. org. au.
Become a science advocate to decision makers
Each year STA hosts our flagship event, Science meets Parliament. Over the duration of the event, scientists and technologists from across the country participate in intensive professional development in how to effectively advocate for
STEM policy to government. There are networking events, workshops and keynote sessions. This is followed by one-onone meetings with federal parliamentarians, where delegates can put their knowledge into action.
At the 2021 event, STA will also issue a call out for our STEM Ambassadors program, which connects STEM professionals with their local MP for ongoing engagement throughout the year.
Science meets Parliament 2021 will be held in March.( Look at the page opposite for more info— Ed).
Stay connected with our policy and advocacy work
STA is highly engaged with STEM policy and regularly advocates on behalf of the sector through government consultative processes. We welcome our members and STEM professionals engaging with us through our channels to connect with our advocacy and be part of the conversation. Follow us on Twitter, or subscribe to our newsletter to be kept updated on STA’ s policy and advocacy work.
